Museum for Modern Arab Art opens in Doha, Qatar

Inauguration of the first museum in the region completely dedicated to Arab Modern Art, celebrated by Chief Curator Wassan AlKhudhairi and his team in Doha. The new cultural icon of the captial is now open  daily 11-18h, Fridays 15-21h and remains closed on Mondays.

Meeting on "Decision-making procedures of the World Heritage Convention" in Bahrain

On 15-17 December 2010 a group of international experts discussed the decision-making procedures of statutory organs of the World Heritage Convention in Manama, Bahrain. The recommendations of the meeting will be discussed and reviewed at the upcoming 35th session of the World Heritage Committee in June. More information is available here .

Conference on The Significance of World Heritage: Origins, Management, Consequences (8-10 December)

At Högskolan Dalarna University in Falun, Sweden a conference will be focusing on media presentation of local identification with, and development impact of World Heritage. The aim of the conference is to get an overview of ongoing research related to World Heritage in diverse fields of studies. Further information is available on the conference webpage..

New Inscriptions on Intangible Cultural Heritage Lists

UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage inscribed four elements on the List of Urgent Safeguarding and 47 elements on the Repre-sentative List during its meeting in Nairobi (15-19/11). For the first time, the meeting was live streamed in four languages on the UNESCO site. Further information on the new inscriptions can be found here.
