So-called Good Practices are recognized by the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage following article 18 of the 2003 UNESCO Convention. The article describes Good practices as projects and activities for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage that best reflect the principles and objectives of the Convention.

The register compiled of the accepted submission is designed as an exchange platform for the purpose of training and capacity building in different regions. Naturally it is a prestigious designation to be a Good Practice example that becomes reference for many other safeguarding activities.

To really be a Good Practice, the application and documentation should be prepared by or at least with the practitioner community and think heritage! merely aims at providing guidance and assistance during this process.
